The Fresh Air ‘ Freecycle Book Fair’ to Celebrate Earth Day
Every year, the Fresh Air Society celebrates 'Earth Day' by partnering with St. Andrew Junior School and co-ordinates a 'Freecycle Book Fair.' Very successful exchanges occurred in 2009 and 2010 and we look forward to the next years event.
If collection goes well, all students will receive a new free book. We will have books organized during the first of the week for distribution back to the students during Earth Day. The Fresh Air Society/St. Andrew’s Junior School Freecycle Book Fair will be held next year on Friday April 20th, 2011 in celebration of Earth Day.
Please contact our book fair project co-ordinator Heather Mayhew at: 863.5560 or by e-mail at: hmpmayhew@hotmail.com
Thank you for your cooperation in supporting literacy, recycling and helping every child receive a ‘new to me’ book on Earth Day. For more information on the Fresh Air Society go to: www.freshairsociety.ca
If you are interested in doing a small session for your students on Earth Day, the Ecological Footprint is a powerful tool for introducing the concept of sustainability to students. Earth Day supporters have applied the Footprint to a number of resources for educators from the primary to university levels. Our Ecological Footprint in Nova Scotia is on average four times larger than the rest of the world. To sustain this lifestyle, we would need four planets.
