We have created this section of our website in order to share stories of individuals and families within our communities embracing a collaborative approach as they search for solutions for a sustainable Antigonish and the inspiration and insights these stories carry. In our experience, once people recognize and accept this interdependence with their neighbours, they are able to begin looking for longer-term and bigger-picture solutions. In the stories you'll read in these pages, the same basic patterns repeat themselves time and time again: 1. thoughtful people see arising opportunities and they are taking appropriate action; 2. they begin to understand how creative solutions can solve simple unsustainable problems; 3. the combination of a deep concern for the environment, society and a sense of possibility for a better future causes them to think differently about the problems, opportunitires and how they are interconnected; 4. different ways of thinking lead to different ways of acting. By focusing on short and long-term strategies, individuals, families and organizations begin to take into account the larger system in which they operate, instead of simply fixing isolated problems.
