General Aim:

The AHWA is a charitable organization whose aim is to maintain and enhance the natural beauty and ecological integrity of the Antigonish Harbour.  We recognize that in order to achieve that aim we need to encourage good stewardship of the lands within the Antigonish Harbour watershed through research, education and example.

Objects:

1        To monitor and maintain the ecological health of the Harbour using the best available science, with a commitment to incorporating local knowledge and community priorities.

2        To take a collaborative, community-based approach to the cultural questions of natural beauty and landscape.

3        To engage citizens in Harbour stewardship through education and example

4        To be the focal point for co-operation between planning and regulatory authorities within the watershed area

5        In collaboration with existing planning and regulatory bodies and Antigonish area citizens, to articulate and promote a vision for the future of Antigonish Harbour

6        To play a role in the assessment of development proposals

7        To monitor and report on practices that affect the Harbour
